A Streetcar Neighborhood

Linden Hills is bounded by Bde Maka Ska to the north, Lake Harriet to the east, West 47th Street to the south and France Avenue to the west. For decades it was cottages and open land; the neighborhood took off after the Como-Harriet streetcar line was extended through it, and the commercial heart around Upton Avenue and 43rd Street was built along that line in the 1920s. The old streetcar platform and carbarn are still near West 42nd Street, and the Lake Harriet Bandshell sits on the lakeshore at the neighborhood's eastern edge.

The housing is the product of that history: many older houses on city lots, with the nooks, trim and details that come with them:

• Woodwork, built-ins and trim. Dust settles in grooves and ledges. Standard Cleaning covers the dusting, and a Deep Cleaning adds about an hour for the extra detail.
• Multiple floors and stairs. No problem; we vacuum and wash floors on every level. Pets or gates? Mention them in Special Instructions.
• Older bathrooms. Each bathroom adds $30 to the base price, and half bathrooms count as one.
• Finished lower levels. The Finished Basement extra is $49. Unfinished basements and garages are not included.
